now where have we been….

Apologies for the huge break in posts

What have we been doing since June… WAY too much. That is still no excuse for not posting about it. Genevieve did have several major spinal surgeries and skin cancer to deal with so we are forgiven a little bit for the gap.

November 2014   We performed at the Amex Stadium in Brighton to celebrate Women in Technology at American Express’CodeGirl Showcase Event. It might seem unusual that classical ballet might appear as part of a women in technology event but this is an unusual ballet.

October 2014 MozFest we participated in Mozilla’s weekend festival celebrating technology.  We were ‘talking’ the creative and artistic use of technology for learning, partnering with The Met Office.

Following this we performed at the Amex Stadium in Brighton to celebrate Women in Technology at American Express’CodeGirl Showcase Event. August was so much fun.  Lots of developing of the wearables for [arra]stre at the Brighton Digital Festival 2014. Wearables with dance performance costumes pose that added extra challenge.  The ballet dresses had 10 metres of chiffon on each one. Sewing electronics onto chiffon is rather difficult, especially all the electronics were done by hand. Each dress took anywhere between 4- 6 hours to sew on the electronics, 7 dresses in total.  All the wearables instructions and educational resources are available at our education site: www.artofcs.org

In July we ran FireTechCamps Brighton Summer School which particularly exciting due to the face that the new MineCraft Course was of the Camp.  The venue for the camp was Sussex University which is is located at the North end of Brighton near the Football Stadium and across the road from Brighton University, Falmer Campus.
